Outline: What you can do with MyOPAC Delivery Request Service

You can receive photocopies/books from UTokyo libraries and other institutions at your department library.
Reserving on-loan books / Requesting delivery of books to UTokyo libraries   [Reserve]
(Free of charge / No advance registration is required)
You can reserve on-loan books and request delivery from other campuses to your department library.

Placing copy requests to UTokyo libraries (Photocopy / PDF viewing)   [Copy] [PDF Viewing]
(Paid service / Advance registration is required)
You can receive photocopies at your department library. (Photocopies can be delivered directly to your office if you pay by public expense.)
You can view and print PDF on computers connected to the university network (UTnet). (It is forbidden to save a copy of the file.)

Placing photocopies/book loan requests to other institutions   [Copy/Borrow from other univ.]
(Paid service / Advance registration is required)
You can receive photocopies/books from other institutions through your department library.


Fees and Delivery Time
Delivery time may vary depending on situation of holding libraries. (Some libraries are unable to accept requests.)

Payment
Public expense:
Your department library transfer the total costs afterwards. (You need not pay on each request.)
When you pay by public expense, see this section.

Private expense:
Please ask at your department library or visit its website. [Libraries list]
(e.g., pay at your department library / pay into the designated bank account by ATM and bring an ATM receipt to your department library)
* Some libraries are unable to accept payment by private expense.

Application for MyOPAC Delivery Request Service
Paid service requires in-advance application at your department library.
You need to submit the "Application form for the MyOPAC delivery request service" to your department library with your student or faculty ID card. [Download Form (PDF)]

* This application form is also available at your department library or its website. [Libraries list]
* When you pay by public expense, signature and seal of a faculty member responsible for payment (e.g., teaching staff who can pay at public expense) is required. For details, ask at your department library.
* "Receipt counter" (pick-up library) can be changed if your department and your laboratory locate on different campuses. Please consult with the library at which you want to receive materials.

How to Request (through MyOPAC)

Login "MyOPAC" and search in OPAC.

Click the request button.   [Reserve]   [Copy]   [PDF Viewing]     [Copy/Borrow from other univ.]
[If you can use the material in UTokyo libraries]
Be sure to check first whether or not the material is available as an e-journal or an e-book.
(See: "Reading e-journals, Reading e-books")
If it is unavailable online, use a book form (printed material).
Check which volumes and years of the journal are available. Visit the holding library and use materials, or place a request through MyOPAC.




[Reserve] -- Reserve on-loan books / Request delivery of books (Free of charge)
You can make reservations of on-loan books or request delivery of books located in library on different campus.

[Copy] -- Placing photocopy requests to UTokyo libraries (Paid service)
Library staff will make a copy and send it to your department library.
(If you pay by public expense, they can be delivered directly to your office (within a range of regular campus mail ("Gakunai-bin").)

[PDF Viewing] -- PDF viewing requests to UTokyo libraries (Paid service)
Library staff will make a PDF file and upload it onto the server.
Access through the computers on campus, and view and print the file. (In accordance with the copyright laws, it is forbidden to download the file.)
* Your file will be accessible for 2 weeks after the holding library sent a notification email.
[If you can NOT use the material in UTokyo libraries]
You can place requests for photocopies or delivery of books to other institutions. (Paid service)
Click [Copy/Borrow from other univ.] button on OPAC search results.

Check Status of Request and PDF Viewing
You can confirm (or cancel, view PDF of) your requests on MyOPAC top page.

Your requests by [Reserve] button : Click "Status of Loan/Reservation"
Your requests by [Copy] button   [PDF Viewing]   [Copy/Borrow from other univ.] button : Click "Status of Loan/Photocopy"

Click the "Reserve status" tab, you can confirm the current status of your requests.




Check Status of Loan/Photocopy (List)
You can confirm progress and payment of your requests.
PDF viewing is available on this list.

FAQ



Q: Where can I pick up books or photocopies I requested?
A: You can pick them up and make payment at your department library ("Receipt counter").
* "Receipt counter" (pick-up library) can be changed if your department and your laboratory locate on different campuses. Please consult with the library at which you want to receive materials. [Libraries list]

e.g., your department is Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, your professor's department is School of Engineering, and you mainly study on Hongo Campus.
In this case, you may change the pick-up library from Kashiwa Library to Libraries for Engineering and Information Science & Technology. (Consult with the Libraries for Eng&IST.)


Q: I cannot login MyOPAC.

Q: I cannot place a request. / Request buttons are unshown in OPAC search results.

Q: I cannot view/access PDF files.
A: PDF are available only on computers connected to the university network (UTnet). Your file will be accessible for 2 weeks after the holding library sent a notification email. (Access is limited to the requester.)

Q: May I save PDF files in my computer? / May I print it out more than a single copy?
A: It is forbidden to save a copy of the file due to the copyright laws. Printing is limited to a single copy. Multiple prints are not permitted. (Unless you have trouble printing.)
